Payment and prices

We accept all patients, whether you are insured or not

Insurance payment for treatment

The physiotherapy department deals with all major insurance companies. Once we have your complete insurance details, we can bill them directly. For most large insurance companies we will bill them electronically.

For all insurance companies, it is essential that you contact them to ensure that you are covered for physiotherapy. They will let you know how much treatment you can have and if there any conditions attached eg a policy excess. Should you run out of insurance or not be covered, you will be liable for the full cost of your care. Please note that it is Spire Healthcare’s policy to obtain a credit/debit card swipe for all patients, whether insured or not.

Patients without insurance

If you are self funding your treatment, we do not require a letter of referral from your GP. Self funding patients are asked to pay directly for their treatment. The most convenient way to do this is to give the physiotherapy department a credit/debit card swipe. The card details provided will be used for payment of your physiotherapy charges. This normally happens in six week cycles and you will be informed prior to payment being taken from your card.

Appointment cancellation or non-attendance

The department operates a 24 hour cancellation policy. Cancellation within 24 hours of your appointment or non attendance will incur a cancellation charge of £19.50. Please note cancellation charges are not covered by insurance. An answer phone is available on 0131-316-2537 for out-of-hours cancellation.

Communicating with your doctor

Please note that it is our policy to confidentially write to your GP and/or referring consultant at the end of your care to update them on your progress. Copies of GP/consultant discharge letters can be made available on request.

Additional items such as splints, supports, strapping, crutches and sticks are available with prices on request. Please note, that in most cases, insurance companies do not cover these items.
